Talla Padmavathi Olympiad School, Somidi, Kazipet, celebrated the vibrant festival of Telangana Bonalu with great enthusiasm, traditional spirit, and cultural pride. As part of the celebration, Mr. Jagadhish Sir explained the significance of Bonalu, a traditional festival of Telangana dedicated to Goddess Mahankali. He explained how the festival represents devotion, gratitude, and the cultural identity of the people of Telangana.

He also spoke about the importance of understanding our festivals not only through tradition but also through their social, cultural, and scientific significance.

A special part of the session focused on the importance of turmeric (pasupu), which has a significant place in Indian traditions.

Students learned that turmeric has been traditionally valued for its natural antimicrobial and antiseptic properties and has been used in Indian households and cultural practices for generations. In Hindu traditions, turmeric is also considered a symbol of purity, auspiciousness, prosperity, and well-being.

The session helped students understand how traditional practices can carry both cultural meaning and practical knowledge, while encouraging them to appreciate India’s rich heritage with a thoughtful and scientific outlook.
